Hosting a wide variety of after school, before school and night classes for youth in grades K-12.

Enjoy the many Youth Enrichment classes that are available for Mankato Area Public School Elementary, homeschool, or out of district children. Most classes are offered after school, evenings and Saturday mornings. The many class opportunities to grow and learn from are Language, Theater, Arts & Crafts, Health & Safety, Skill Development and Science classes.

Prairie Fire Children's Theatre

PRAIRIE FIRE CHILDREN’S THEATRE – A CHRISTMAS CAROL
Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre Directors
6 Sessions – Ages 7–14
A holiday favorite, Prairie Fire’s “A Christmas Carol” will return to
Mankato in November 2019. This show is based on the classic
Charles Dickens story.
On Monday of the rehearsal week, some of the actors will be
dismissed after the audition that will end at approximately
5:30 p.m. On Tuesday, sectional rehearsals of 1.5–2 hours will be
based on the schedule sent home on Monday. All registered
actors will be on stage the entire rehearsal time on Wednesday
and Thursday. On Friday, a light pizza supper will be served,
and all students will stay until after the first public performance
(approximately 8:30 p.m.). Two public shows are planned: one on
Friday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m., and the other one on Saturday,
November 23, at 1:00 p.m. Rehearsals and shows will be at Franklin
Elementary School in the auditorium
Rehearsals:
3:30–7:45 p.m. (Monday–Thursday),
3:30–8:30 p.m. (Friday) and 12:00–2:30 p.m. (Saturday)
Show Times: Friday, 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $50 per student

Drama Kids

Drama Kids is the ONLY after-school program that significantly improves kids’ confidence and self-esteem, while also teaching them critical skills that will help them succeed academically and professionally throughout their entire lives. Led by Ray Smart, a musician and writer with Master’s degree in Education, kids have TONS OF FUN while learning verbal and public speaking skills, creative thinking skills, empathy, and collaboration skills to name just a few. Everyone gets to participate, everyone has a voice, and no two classes are ever the same.

Drama Kids is offered at the following elementary schools:
Bridges, Eagle Lake, Franklin, Hoover, Jefferson, Kennedy,
Monroe, Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, Washington & Loyola Catholic
Schools.

Youth Fencing

New and returning students invited!
Join this fast growing Olympic sport. Each {YEL!} fencing class follows four basic components: •Teach It!…Hall of Fame Olympic Fencing Coach Ro Sobalvarro crafts our lessons and curriculum. •Practice It!…Students pair up and practice the fencing move or concept, rotate partners and repeat. •Move It!…Students then participate in fencing matches using only the moves taught so far. •Play It!…10-15 minutes each class students fence with multiple fencers at their skill level. Grandmasters of Chess

New and returning students invited. Each {YEL!} Chess class follows four basic components: •Teach It!…Each class students are taught different chess concepts and coached to implement those concepts into their chess games. •Practice It!…Students practice positions set by the coach to improve their understanding of the concept. •Puzzle It!… Students are given chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance to solve them. •Play It!…Each class ends with students playing 20-30 minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class tournaments during the session. Class fee includes ChessKid.com membership for the session (a $49 annual value). Extreme Stem: Catapults & Dragons
